Notes for Rozalia “Rose” ALEXANDER
This is probably the Rezi ALEXANDER who married Benjamin SCHWARCZ on 29 Jan 1895 in Lemes, Hungary. [2374] The bride, age 21, is the daughter of Moricz ALEXANDER and Fani FEIGENBAUM. Rezi and her parents are from Ofalu, Saros, Hungary.

Birth records from Tuhrina Civil Records for Ofalu, Saros, Hungary list the following as children of Roza ALEXANDER and Béni SCHWARZ:
- Béla born 27 Feb 1896, died 15 Oct 1896 [2380], [2381]
- Adolf born 16 May 1900, died 21 May 1901 [2382], [2383]
- Miksa born 10 Feb 1902, died 21 Aug 1915 [2384]
It remains unclear if Béni/Benjamin is the same as Samuel or not and therefore wether the Roza ALEXANDER listed in these three birth records is the same as Rose ALEXANDER who is daughter of Moritz ALEXANDER and Antonia FEIGENBAUM.

According to family lore, Rose had 11 or more children of which only Antionette and Julius came to the United States. Two of the other sons survived World War II and were visited in Hungary by their brother, Julius. [2385]

When Antoinette SCHWARTZ came to the United States, she was traveling with her Uncle Max Alexander and his wife, Nellie.

Antoinette addressed a postcard to her Uncle, Nathan Alexander, and Aunt, Fannie Alexander. [2367] Therefore, Rose is probably a sister of either Nathan or Fannie ALEXANDER, who are themselves first cousins. Fannie has a sister named Rose who married Samuel GLUCK. Therefore, Rose Alexander, wife of Samuel SCHWARTZ, is probably the sister of Nathan ALEXANDER, making her the daughter of Moritz ALEXANDER and Antonia FEIGENBAUM. In which case, Rose’s daughter, Antionette, is probably named after Rose’s mother, Antonia.

Rose Alexander SCHWARTZ was still alive when Rosetta COHN was born in about 1932 according to what Anoinette told Rosetta. However, in 1945, when Ernest and Ludovit SCHWARTZ came out of hiding, they were looking for their father, but not their mother. Taken together, this would suggest that Rose died sometime between 1932 and 1945.
