Notes for Henry Maxwell ALEXANDER
Family called him Albin, not Henry, and this is how he appears on the ship's manifest when he arrived in the United States.
Naturalization:
- Ira H. Alexander has the original of the certificate of naturalization
- Henry's address given as 716 6th, New York, New York
- Petition Volume 17, page 103
- Volume 4381, page 15.
Family lore is that in 1910 he witnessed a crime (some say bank robbery other say murder) in New York and was told to get out of town for his own health. In any case, he left and went to Washington state, perhaps stopping in Forest City, PA on his way.
- The 1910 US Census for Forest City, PA lists Max Heller and family living on Main Street. Living next door are the Lyons family. Boarding with the Lyons is a 25 year old Henry M . Alexander who had been born in Hungary.
According to Arthur Alexander (son of Ignatz & Regina), Henry was b. Dec 30, 1884 and died Jan 11, 1961 (These dates are each off by one year from those supplied by Henry’s son, Ira.)
