From Leah Schiffman Helfgott: “They [Max and Ethel Friedman} also adopted a son, who changed his name to Pierre Loving. He became a famous playwright and poet, but got involved in some kind of bad business and went to jail” It seems unlikely that Irving became the famous writer because of the discrepancy in age:
- The obituary for Edward Pierre Loving suggests he was born in 1894 and says nothing about his being in jail. (New York Times, June 27, 1950, p. 27)
- Loving died in Washington, DC on June 25, 1950 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery (Section 18 Site 012)
- Sept 5 1893 is the birth date Loving gave on various travel documents.
- Loving’s first entry on Ancestry.com from 1923.
